Regional Decision Support Team: Our Services

 Our Services

Decision support work is undertaken across the organisation to support DHBs in funding and planning related functions. The technical/analytical skill mix available in the NDSA includes business, database management, financial, spatial and statistical analyses. The NDSA will continue to develop capability to assist the DHBs in the collection, collation, analysis and communication of information required for regional funding and planning activities.

Key areas of activity for the decision support team include:

  • The management of large datasets on behalf of the region, including but not limited to health of older people services, PHO enrolment data mart, community pharmaceutical data, community laboratory data, oral health dataset and data from national data warehouses.
  • Adding value to financial and business analysis with information management and reporting tools, particularly around primary care and referred services management.
  • Conducting additional demographic and service mapping activity to support NDSA functions around service planning. This will include Section88 processes, regional contracting strategies, PHO development and regional projects undertaken by NDSA.
  • Produce a range of regular reports, the content of which has been developed and agreed regionally. These reports include pharmaceutical, laboratory, oral health, health of older people, PHO and childhood immunisation.
